Enjoy an un-wholesome holiday in a fallout shelter: Las Vegas liminal bunker getaway

Who is to say what makes a good holiday? Some people love heading out on a city break, surrounded by buildings, no more than ten steps away from a restaurant or bar, the entire world on their doorstep. Others opt for seclusion, desperate to escape from the business of everyday life and instead sinking into the calm tranquillity of quiet time away. Others might want to go to Las Vegas and see what life would be like in a post-apocalyptic world. Today, we’re going to talk about the latter.

Las Vegas is the city of the sin. On the strip, you can go to bars where naked people dance, find somewhere to buy drugs, drink to excess, and gamble your life savings on red. It seems like the city most rooted in chaos and the last place where you would find anybody remotely prepared for the end of the world; however, there is a house.

About three miles off the strip, you’ll find a house that looks like every other property in the area. It towers in the desert, the beaming hot sun casting a regular shadow on the ground made up of brick and sand, but go under that ground, and you find something quite unexpected. This is where you can spend time in any doomsday prepper’s dream.

There is an elevator inside the house that moves slowly and surely underground. One side is panelled with glass, showing a mural documenting your trip underground, and when the doors eventually open up, you see the end of days, which is equivalent to the edible room in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. Most doomsday rooms you see are for necessity, fulfilling a specific purpose; none would make you pine for the end of days… except this one.

The doomsday room is essentially one giant box that has been placed underground, and then within that box, two homes have been built; there is a garden, a pool, a hot tub, a BBQ, a dance floor and stripper poles. Ironically, if the area were used to its full potential, a party would occur, which would be as catastrophic as the end of days.

The makers of this panic room have ensured that they will be thoroughly entertained during the end of the world, as everything that makes a club in Vegas can be found within these walls. In addition to fundamentals like a bed and shower, there is a giant pool and enough alcohol to supply a music festival. There is a cinema room with enough films to last over a year, the ability to change the lighting to reflect day and night and plenty of music.

Who is to say that the end of days has to mean the end of fun? If you are worried about society collapsing and are keen on staying in a bunker so you’re prepared for the inevitable, then this Vegas property could be for you. It retails at over $18million, so you will need to have pockets deep enough that they, too, run underground, but it will be well worth it when you can’t hear the devastating news about the end of the world over your party music and the sound of shots being poured.
