Lana Del Rey teases second new album, ‘Spyda’, amid update on delayed album ‘Stove’

Lana Del Rey has surprised fans yet again with the announcement of a companion album, seemingly titled Spyda, to her long-awaited album, Stove.

Several years ago, Del Rey first shared that her tenth album was in the works, with the title Lasso and the release date of September 2024.

The ‘Born To Die’ singer then pushed the album back to May 2025 and changed the title to The Right Person Will Stay, before another title change in August last year to Stove.

Now, in an unexpected mid-week update, Del Rey has seemingly given the final update on the projects. Her statement began earnestly, “So much has happened over the last four years, so much time waiting for things to come together, and so much time wondering if it was ok that things were falling apart.”

She added, “Patience was the key, and in between the songs came new thoughts about old friends and new dreams and from the doubt of whether the tree I had been planting would grow – came new sprouts and so grew a new rose bush underneath the willow – a large companion album.”

The album, she shared, has been “compiled by as many people as I could find to help me gather my thoughts about how much was changing.”

In comparison to the new release, which, by the looks of the accompanying vinyl examples, appears to be called Spyda, her previously announced album Stove is a “classic album, if I may say“.

She deemed the pair of records “two of my most beautiful pieces of work”, adding that her second album “sprouted from doubt, hopefulness, and the understanding that new beginnings truly mean starting completely fresh and over”.

Del Rey added that the record was formed “over the years,” and it acts as a “commentary of sorts on everything that has been going on, and the patience that was required- and the trust I had to have that not all the things that weren’t working was just because of me. I’m grateful for all my collaborators; I guess it took what it took to finish it.”

Without revealing a specific release date, the musician added that she needs “a month to finish putting it together,” after which she will send the two albums to vinyl.

Earlier this year, Del Rey released a surprise single, ‘White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter’; in a four-star review, Far Out observed that the single was “fascinating, as the artist constantly finds new ways to morph, change and grow.”
