Lana Del Rey changes forthcoming album title to ‘Stove’ and reveals release plans

Lana Del Rey has revealed further details about her forthcoming album, including yet another title change in the latest chapter leading up to its long-drawn-out release.

Del Rey first commented that her tenth album was in the works a few years back and slated it for a release date in September 2024. Back then, she was referring to the project as an LP titled Lasso.

Further down the line, she changed the touted title to The Right Person Will Stay, hinted at its country stylings, and commented that it would likely be released in May 2025.

However, since then, in a recent interview with W Magazine, the ‘Born to Die’ star has revealed that the project will be further postponed until early 2026, will now go by the name of Stove, and it might perhaps be heading towards double album territory in terms of a lengthy tracklisting.

Speaking about the mind-changes and delays, she commented, “[The songs she was writing] were more autobiographical than I thought, and that took more time.”

Beyond taking on a more personal tone, she also said, “The majority of the album will have a country flair. Eight years ago, when I was looking to make a country record, no one else was thinking about country. Now everyone is going country! I’ve asked myself, Should I retire all my snakeskin boots? Should I put my cowboy hats in storage?”

With the likes of Beyonce and Post Malone transitioning from the pop-adjacent sphere into country lately, Del Rey hints that she even thought about retiring her long-held idea. However, moving to Nashville part-time and meeting her husband, Jeremy Dufrene, encouraged her to pursue it.

So, she decided to add a further six songs to the originally proposed tracklisting. ”Jeremy is the most impactful person in my life,” she said, discussing his inspirational impetus. She also explained that she wrote ‘Stars Fell on Alabama’ for him, but added that alligators make her ”nervous”.

Del Rey is yet to confirm whether Stove, which she has been working on with Jack Antonoff and the legendary country producer Luke Laird, has been fully completed. As they say, the Stove is always a work in progress.
