Julia Roberts confirms involvement in ‘Ocean’s 14’ and admits she was “surprised” by script
Hollywood icon Julia Roberts has provided an update on the highly anticipated sequel, Ocean’s 14.
In the original movies, Roberts portrayed Tess Ocean, a role she is now set to revive alongside George Clooney. Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Don Cheadle are also expected to be involved in the new film.
Speaking to Variety at the Golden Globes, where she was nominated in the ‘Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama’ category for After The Hunt, Roberts revealed of the forthcoming film, “Yes, I have seen a script.”
She then shared her reaction to the script, adding, “And I was kind of surprised, because I was like, ‘Oh, what is the story going to be?’ And it’s good. I mean, we wouldn’t do it if it’s not good.”
Additionally, on the red carpet at the glitzy ceremony, Roberts revealed to Extra she does not yet know when it will enter production, admitting, “We’re still trying to work out the schedules for every one of the Ocean’s movies.”
She optimistically added, “That was the hardest bit. So, that’s where we are now, but we’ll figure it out.”
Clooney has been teasing Ocean’s 14 since 2023. Most recently, he addressed the future of the film series at the New York Film Festival in October, “We just got the budget approved at Warner Brothers, and we’re trying to set up. It’s just scheduling, so it’s just setting a start date for us.”
Providing a timeline, he added, “Probably start in about nine or ten months, shooting”. As these comments were given in October, it would suggest Ocean’s 14 will shoot in the summer of 2026, unless there has been a significant change behind the scenes.
In addition to the Ocean’s sequel, there is also a separate prequel in the works, which is reportedly set to star Bradley Cooper and Margot Robbie as the parents of Danny Ocean in the 1960s.
