George Clooney confirms ‘Oceans 14’ will begin filming in 2026
George Clooney has confirmed that Oceans 14 is coming, and shooting will begin in 2026.
Over the years, Clooney has teased another addition to the Ocean’s Eleven instalment. At the New York Film Festival, while promoting his upcoming movie, Jay Kelly, the star shared that huge progress has been made on the project.
Answering a question from the audience, Clooney shared, “We just got the budget approved at Warner Brothers, and we’re trying to set up. It’s just scheduling, so it’s just setting a start date for us.”
He added, “Probably start in about nine or ten months, shooting.” Clooney was then asked about the potential cast, and had some great updates in that area, too.
Hinting at a possible reunion for the original Ocean’s Eleven cast, Clooney shared of those involved, “Yeah, Brad [Pitt], Matt [Damon] and Don [Cheadle] and Julia [Roberts]. I had dinner last night with Julia. They’re all still really dear friends. And so, the chance to work together would be fun.”
However, Clooney gave no update on the potential director. It is most likely that Steven Soderbergh will not be returning, as he previously commented that he has nothing left to add to the series. In his words, according to Variety, he has “been there and done that.”
The last film in the series was Ocean’s 8, a spin-off in which the original characters were replaced by an all-female cast, reinvigorating the movies with originality that led to decent box office success.
The new project in the Ocean’s series, following the 2018 all-female offering, was originally supposed to be a prequel set in 1960s Europe. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling were set to star, but the prequel never made it out of production stages.
