Josh Homme reveals he’s “all clear” from cancer

Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has provided an update on his cancer treatment and revealed he’s now “all clear”.

In the summer, Homme revealed he’d been diagnosed in 2022 but kept the specifics of the diagnosis private. Additionally, during his fight with the illness, he was also going through a custody battle with his ex-wife Brody Dalle and nine people he knew had also passed away during the testing period.

In a new interview with ITV News ahead of Queens of the Stone Age’s performance at the AO Arena in Manchester earlier this week, Homme provided positive health news and reflected on this challenging time of his life.

“I had a little heartache, and I had a little of this and a little of that,” Homme reflected. “But also I’ve never learned so much so quickly. So I’m sort of thankful for it all at the end, because I feel closer to the things that I truly love.”

In response to a question about his cancer, Homme said: “I’m good. I’m all clear.” The rock frontman also thanked his children for helping his wellbeing and said he currently “feel[s] the best I’ve felt all year”.

Homme continued: “It’s OK to be broad and say ‘Dark times come’, but I guess more than ever I’m just trying to look for the light, you know?”

Earlier this year, Queens of the Stone Age returned with their new album In Times New Roman. In a three-star review, Far Out said of the LP: “In Times New Roman has darkness woven into its DNA. But Homme’s never been one to feel sorry for himself. The anger and confusion that has coloured his life outside of music doesn’t really find its way into either the music or the lyrics of In Times New Roman.”

Queens of the Stone are set to play the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on November 18th before performing at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham on the following day. The tour concludes with an intimate show at The Globe in Stockton on November 20th.
