Josh Homme discusses his “romance” with Dave Grohl: “He’s such a good guy”

Josh Homme, best known for fronting Queens of the Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures, has reflected on his longtime friendship with Dave Grohl.

The pair have known each other for decades, with Grohl joining the lineup of Queens of the Stone Age in 2001, lending his drumming skills to the band’s highly acclaimed album, Songs for the Deaf.

Grohl was a big fan of Homme’s previous band, Kyuss, inviting them to tour with Foo Fighters in 2000. Before long, Grohl was a temporary member of Queens of the Stone Age, rejoining the band for session work in 2013.

In a recent NME interview, Homme revealed that Grohl is “one of the longest romances I’ve had that’s worked.” He added, “He’s such a good guy, but I also love his dark side.”

The singer continued, “I love mixing our watercolours together like that, just in conversation. We go to this place, that I won’t name, just to eat breakfast and waffles and talk about times.”

In the past, Grohl has spoken incredibly fondly about his time in QOTSA, with his contributions to Songs for the Deaf being widely applauded. The album is a modern rock staple, hitting number four on the UK Album Chart upon its release in 2002.

Grohl once called QOTSA (via Louder Sound) “way above everybody else,” adding, “We’re far more interesting and talented than most bands. I can say that because I’m not really in the band. If I were an actual member, there’d be trouble.”
