Johnny Marr postpones biggest solo headline show at Wembley Arena
Johnny Marr‘s upcoming headline show at Wembley Arena has been postponed.
The former Smiths guitarist was due to perform the biggest headline show of his solo career at the historic London venue on October 24th, with Baxter Dury set to support.
However, the event will no longer be going ahead at Wembley Arena on October 24th with further details about the rescheduling set to be announced in due course.
The event listings on the venue’s website reads, “It is with great regret that we must inform you that the forthcoming Johnny Marr show at OVO Arena Wembley, London, scheduled for 24 October 2026, is having to be rescheduled.”
They continued, “We understand that many of you will have made plans to attend, and we are truly sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience this news may cause.”
While no new date has yet been confirmed, organisers shared that they are “working to provide an update as soon as possible, and you will be notified immediately once a rescheduled date is announced.”
All fans who have purchased tickets will receive an automatic refund. No reason has been given for the postponement.
Far Out has contacted a representative for Johnny Marr for comment.
Marr, who is due to release his new album, The Age of Everything, on October 10th, recently played a huge homecoming show at Castlefield Bowl in Manchester earlier this month.
However, with the postponement of the Wembley Arena concert, he no longer has any dates in the diary for the UK to coincide with the album release.
Reflecting on the new album, Marr previously said in a statement, “This is the record that’s been the most cathartic. The title came to me early in the process and became an inescapable idea.”
He added, “It seemed to sum up the way I think a lot of people are feeling. It’s all encompassing, but it’s not necessarily a negative statement. There’s a sense of overwhelm in the culture brought about by technology, but looking at it with a different light, there could also be a sense of possibility.”
Meanwhile, Morrissey recently again attacked Marr on his website in a since-deleted post, claiming the guitarist has “devoted his entire life to killing Morrissey in whatever way available.”
The former Smiths frontman added, “He embodies precisely what he claims to hate in others. His predatory sport of ‘calling Morrissey names’ is now in full wachine-machine overdrive. Why isn’t he bored of it all yet?”
