Johnny Marr announces new album ‘The Age of Everything’, shares comeback single ‘Spin’
Johnny Marr has announced his new album, The Age of Everything, which is set for release on October 10th, 2026.
To preview the forthcoming release, which marks his fifth full-length album since going solo, Marr has shared the new single ‘Spin’.
On the new track, Marr grapples with modernity as he sings, “There’s too much coming into my mind,” and “days keep running through my head”.
‘Spin’, which arrives alongside a music video conceptualised by the guitar icon that was filmed in Manchester, will be familiar to audiences who have seen Marr perform over the past 12 months, as it has been played live regularly by him at shows.
In total, The Age of Everything encompasses ten tracks, which Marr developed live on the road across the East Coast of North America while on tour before taking them home to Manchester and recording them in his studio.
Reflecting on the album, Marr said in a statement, “This is the record that’s been the most cathartic. The title came to me early in the process and became an inescapable idea.”
He added, “It seemed to sum up the way I think a lot of people are feeling. It’s all encompassing, but it’s not necessarily a negative statement. There’s a sense of overwhelm in the culture brought about by technology, but looking at it with a different light, there could also be a sense of possibility.”
With the official announcement of The Age of Everything, 2026 is shaping up to be quite the year for Marr, who is set to play the biggest headline date of his solo career at the OVO Wembley Arena on October 24th.
Before then, he’ll play a huge homecoming show at Castefield Bowl in Manchester on July 9th, which he’ll warm-up for with dates in Leeds and Liverpool.
Marr also has a series of Italian dates lined up in July, as well as festivals in Poland, Spain and the Netherlands this summer.
