Joey Waronker: Who is the new Oasis drummer?
The Oasis reunion has been a hot topic sitting on the lips of music lovers around the world since it was initially announced in 2024. Fans of the band had been waiting over a decade for the reunion, and they showed up in full force when tickets for the reunion went on sale, selling them out almost instantly and making these upcoming shows some of the most anticipated gigs of 2025.
Even though Liam and Noel Gallagher have been playing Oasis songs as part of their solo sets ever since the band split, there is something impalpable about seeing the two of them together again. Noel put it best during a video celebrating the band’s 30th anniversary when he said that the band as a unit was unstoppable and that everyone was needed to put the whole sound together.
“When I would sing a song, it would sound good. When he sung it, it sounded great,” said Noel, “I can’t sing ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’, ‘Rock n Roll Star’ and all that. I don’t have the same attitude as him. My voice is half a Guinness on a Tuesday—it’s all right. Liam’s is ten shots of tequila on a Friday.”
While it was clear that Noel and Liam would be the main faces at these Oasis reunions, fans were also curious what former band members of Oasis would be making up the rest of the line-up. They have been left in the dark about this information… until now… as it seems that Liam Gallagher has confirmed the line-up for the band who will be taking to the stage for the Oasis reunions.
Who will be playing in Oasis for the reunions?
Liam Gallagher took to social media saying he was disappointed that it looked as though someone close to the band had leaked information to the press. “It’s not the lineup reveal I’m bother about I’ll reveal that to you in a minute,” he wrote, “I’m more bothered about the line where it says a source close to the band and tour that really causes me a great deal of concern LG x…”

Gallagher then proceeded to name who would be taking to the stage with him and his brother for the Oasis reunion shows. “Tony Mc drums Alan white bass guitar Zak lead guitar Chris Sharrock keys,” he said. The post was clearly a joke by Gallagher, as he merely named every drummer who had previously played with the band; however, his reaction to the leak says a lot about the information which was previously published.
NME shared a report on March 12th that said Andy Bell would be hitting up bass duties in the band. Meanwhile, Gem Archer has also been confirmed as returning. While some familiar faces are making a comeback, one of the most surprising names is Joey Waronker, who will be playing drums for Oasis during their reunion shows. While this line-up is yet to be officially confirmed, Liam Gallagher’s response to the news more or less solidifies the news.
So, who is Joey Waronker
Joey Waronker is the only person in the line-up who has not previously played in Oasis. The American is more than qualified for the job. Noel Gallagher has kicked drummers out of Oasis for not being technically proficient or versatile, but Waronker’s previous accolades prove he is more than up for the job.
Some of the artists he has played with include the likes of Roger Waters, Elliott Smith, David Byrne and Beck. He has previously worked with Liam Gallagher, having provided the drums on his collaboration album with John Squire. Additionally, he founded Atoms for Peach with Radiohead’s Thom Yorke.
