Joe Perry showers Yungblud with praise: “He’s got it”
Joe Perry has showered praise on the young rock star Yungblud, following their recent EP collaboration with Steven Tyler.
The stars performed together at the MTV VMAs this summer, in tribute to the late metal icon Ozzy Osbourne. They were also joined on-stage by Nuno Bettencourt and Perry’s Aerosmith bandmate, Steven Tyler.
Perry and Yungblud, real name Dom Harrison, met in the summer of 2024 for an initial studio session, laying the groundwork for future tracks.
Eventually, One More Time was released this November, a five-track collaboration that includes a 2025 mix of the classic Aerosmith classic, ‘Back In the Saddle’.
As per Guitar World, Perry shared about the recent project: “The songs are inspired by him working with us, and us being inspired by working with him. There’s a lot of great guitar players and bands out there, but Yungblud really has the stuff, so we thought we’d throw our lot in.”
Perry confessed that they hadn’t intended to make a full project. He shared, “It was something we really hadn’t planned on. Then after it was done, we had promotion, photoshoots, and rehearsals from morning to night.”
He added earnestly, “It’s been three months of insanity!” before confessing why he was so keen to work with Yungblud. He admitted, “When I heard his stuff I was like, ‘This guy’s got the pipes.’ I watched his live stuff and I thought, ‘He’s got it, man!’”
When asked if there will be further collaborations in the future, the musician answered coyly, “If this is the last thing that we do, it’s great. But I’m not retired yet. Steven doesn’t think he’s retired. Who knows? We’ve still got some juice left!”
Recently, Yungblud announced that he was cancelling the rest of his 2025 shows due to “health reasons”. Impacted dates included a series of shows in Latin America, as well as headline shows in Philadelphia, Cleveland and Washington, DC.
