Jeremy Allen White to play Jabba the Hutt’s son in upcoming ‘Star Wars’ film
While it’s not the role many might have considered for one of Hollywood’s brightest stars, Jeremy Allen White will be playing Jabba The Hut’s son, Rotta the Hutt, in the upcoming film The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Though no official release date has been confirmed for the Star Wars installation yet, it will be available sometime in 2026. The movie will be written and directed by Jon Favreau, who is responsible for a large chunk of The Mandalorian series, which this movie will expand upon. Dave Filoni will also help with writing duties for the highly anticipated film.
Given that it comes after The Mandalorian series, many familiar faces (or lack of faces) will also appear in the movie. Pedro Pascal has confirmed he will be reprising his role as Din Djarin. Pascal has already played Djarin for three series on the Disney+ show. Therefore, stepping into the role shouldn’t be too difficult for him.
Despite the fact that at the end of the third series of the show, it appeared that Djarin had settled down to live a quiet life with his newly adopted son Grogu (more commonly known as Baby Yoda), it seems that nothing can ever be that simple in the Star Wars universe.
The film takes place a few years after Return of the Jedi when a power vacuum is left behind following the death of Darth Vader and the murder of Jabba the Hutt. Rotta the Hutt looks to thrive in the wake of his father’s murder.
Sigourney Weaver has also been confirmed to have a role in the movie; however, it is yet to be confirmed who she will be playing and how they will fit into the story. Regardless, this film is shaping up to have one of the most star-studded to ever perform in a Star Wars project.
What other projects is Jeremy Allen White working on?
One of White’s most successful recent projects, which has catapulted him into the mainstream, is his portrayal of Carmen Berzatto in The Bear. The series depicts the struggling life of a chef in Chicago as he tries to take over his deceased brother’s restaurant and turn it into a fine dining experience. It has been confirmed that The Bear will return for a fourth series in the near future.
In addition to playing Berzatto, White will also appear in Deliver Me from Nowhere, the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic, as ‘The Boss’ himself. Scott Cooper is handling the biopic, which is set to take place while Springsteen was writing his divisive album, Nebraska.
