Bruce Springsteen believes Jeremy Allen White is “the right guy” for his biopic

Music biopics are a hot commodity in Hollywood as of late. In recent months we have seen the release of the controversial Amy Winehouse film Back to Black, and fans are currently gearing up to watch Timothée Chalamet embrace the role of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. The latest musician to be given this biopic treatment is The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen.

Reporting of a Springsteen biopic began back in April of this year, with more details gradually emerging as the months went on. Although specific details on the project are still fairly scarce, it has been known for months that The Bear star Jeremy Allen White has been cast to play The Boss. In fact, the actor revealed in August that he has been undergoing vocal training to pin down the voice of Springsteen.

Now, as production gets underway on Deliver Me From Nowhere, the production company have unleashed the first photograph of White as Springsteen. Wearing The Boss’ usual flannel shirt and leather jacket combo, the actor looks pretty convincing as the ‘Born to Run’ songwriter, it must be said.

Springsteen himself seems to concur with this view, recently telling The Telegraph that White is the perfect person to play him on the silver screen. “I only had to see him on The Bear, and I knew he was the right guy,” Springsteen continued, “because he had that interior life, but he also had a little swagger.”

Thankfully, Springsteen is said to be working closely with the studio on this biopic, so fans can expect the film to have his seal of approval – a luxury which is not afforded to all music biopics. Also on board is the songwriter’s longtime manager, Jon Landau, who will be played in Deliver Me From Nowhere by Jon Landau.

Given that Springsteen has enjoyed such a successful and long lasting career in music, which continues to this day, the film is set to focus on one specific period in his life: the production of his 1982 album Nebraska. One of his finest efforts to date, the album marked a departure from Springsteen’s youthful and optimistic songwriting, embracing something a little more solemn and considered.

What do we know so far about the Bruce Springsteen biopic?

Although production on Deliver Me From Nowhere has commenced, details surrounding the biopic are still few and far between. At the time of writing, 20th Century Studios, the production company responsible for the film, has not announced an official release date for the movie.

However, the biopic is expected to hit theatres at some point in 2025. With the film still in the early stages of production, it seems likely that it will not arrive until the latter half of the year.
