Hayley Williams describes ex-Paramore bandmate as “an ass”
Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has revealed that the band turned down an opportunity to work on the Jennifer’s Body soundtrack due to the “Christian beliefs” of former bandmate, Josh Farro.
Jennifer’s Body follows Jennifer, played by Megan Fox, a beautiful cheerleader who feeds on the flesh of young men to maintain her power. Her timid friend Needy, played by Amanda Seyfried, must uncover the truth before it is too late. The film became a recent queer classic because of the romantic undertones between the two main characters.
When Paramore had the chance to work on the soundtrack, they were forced to turn it down. However, Williams’ solo song, ‘Teenagers’, appeared alongside a stacked soundtrack that included artists like Panic! At The Disco, Dashboard Confessional, and Cute Is What We Aim For.
Speaking with The New York Times’ Popcast, the ‘Misery Business’ singer shed light on the situation. She shared, “There were a lot of things that I even wanted to do that they weren’t supportive of,” she said. “And when I say ‘they,’ I mostly mean Zac’s brother, ’cause he was an ass.”
Zac Farro is still the drummer for Paramore, but his brother, Josh, left the band in 2010 due to his differing religious beliefs.
Williams continued, “I turned down the end credits of Jennifer’s Body for him. You know what I mean? There’s so much lore! There’s so much people don’t know.” However, she speculated that, given he grew up “fundamental Christian”, he “didn’t agree” with the content of the feminist film.
She then called the “demonic” nature of the film “the best kind” of movie.
Elsewhere on the podcast, Williams revealed that the “racist country singer” she sings about in the titular track on her new album is Morgan Wallen. She shared, “It could be a couple, but I’m always talking about Morgan Wallen, I don’t give a shit.” She also invited the ‘I’m The Problem’ singer to “meet me at Whole Foods, bitch – I don’t care.”
Far Out branded Williams’ new project, Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party, “an incredible hour-long project overflowing with unique lyricism and boundless energy.” She has also hinted that there may be another track or two to be released before the project is fully completed.
