Paramore lead singer and band leader Hayley Williams has been breaking down a selection of her favourite numbers.
Paramore, the rock back fronted by lead vocalist Williams and currently backed up by guitarist Taylor York and drummer Zac Farro, are enjoying a resurgence following the success of Williams’ recent solo work.
The band, which was originally formed by Williams and brothers Josh Farro and Zac Farro in 2004, managed to tap into a market of disillusioned young teens and built a cult following. “They were the first people I met who were as passionate about music as I was,” Williams once commented about her songwriting partners in the Farro brothers.
However, after the two founding members departed the band, Williams has continued to be the driving force she was from the very beginning. After record labels came swarming around the group following their breakthrough, the singer was never shy about insisting on the direction of the band’s output.
Entering the 17th year as a band, Paramore has continued to grow with prolific fandom despite having only released four studio albums in that time. While their last full length record came three years ago in the shape of 2017 effort After Laughter, Williams has promised new material is in the offing despite her current demanding work schedule.
Reflecting on the discography of her band, the singer was drawn into a conversation with a fan who asked her to name a selection of her favourite Paramore songs. See the full list, below.
