Grammys 2026: Kendrick Lamar leads nominations with nine nods

Rapper Kendrick Lamar has been nominated for nine different categories at the Grammys, while the likes of Lady Gaga and Sabrina Carpenter trail close behind.

Lamar has topped the list with the most nominations of the cohort, including nominations in coveted categories such as ‘Record of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, and ‘Album of the Year’, centring around his 2024 surprise release, GNX.

It is the rapper’s third time with simultaneous nominations in all three main categories. In total, the rapper has 66 career nominations. He is a 22-time Grammy winner.

Right behind him, Lady Gaga has bagged seven nominations for her latest project, Mayhem. This means her career total now reaches 45 nominations. Mayhem is up for Album of the Year, while her track ‘Abracadabra’ is up for ‘Record of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’. This year, she scored her first nomination in the ‘Best Dance Pop Recording. Last year, Charli XCX won that category for her tune, ‘Von Dutch’.

Other notable nominee winners include Sabrina Carpenter, who is back for more after several 2025 wins. Her new album, Man’s Best Friend, has led to 6 nominations for the Disney Channel star turned global pop phenomenon. Last year, she won ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ and ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’.

Notably, Bad Bunny is also a heavy-hitter among leading nominees. This success means that 2026 is the only the second time an all-Spanish album has been nominated for ‘Album of the Year’. Doechii follows close behind the Puerto Rican star with five nominations to his six.

During the announcement video, key Grammy winners were filmed announcing the nominations in each category. Names involved include Lizzo, Sabrina Carpenter, Nicole Scherzinger, Sam Smith, Mumford and Sons, Jon Batiste, Doechii, Chappell Roan, David Foster, Brandi Carlile and Karol G.

The ceremony will return to the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 1st, 2026, to celebrate the past 12 months in music.
