Sabrina Carpenter announces new album, ‘Man’s Best Friend’

Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has announced her new album, Man’s Best Friend, will be released on August 29th via Island Records.

The new album was teased through an Instagram Live video, which saw the ‘Espresso’ singer look through a stack of records from the likes of ABBA, Dolly Parton and Donna Summer before landing on her next studio offering, Man’s Best Friend.

In keeping with the ironic and patronising tones of previous hit ‘Please, Please, Please’, Sabrina Carpenter released album opener ‘Manchild’ on June 5th — she debuted the song two days later when headlining Primavera Sound in Barcelona.

During a verse dripping with disdain, the musician sings, “Why so sexy if so dumb? / And how survive the Earth so long? / If I’m not there, it won’t get done / I choose to blame your mum.”

Carpenter said upon the song’s release, “It sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll and it feels like a never ending road trip in the summer! Hence why i wanted to give it to you now — so you can stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long!”

The new album will total 12 tracks and will mark the musician’s seventh studio album. The cover art sees the singer on her knees in a black dress, with her hair pulled by a faceless man in a black suit.

The ‘Manchild’ singer will perform two nights at London’s Hyde Park on July 5th and 6th, after which she will hit Lollapalooza on August 3rd, and both weekends of Austin City Limits on October 4th and October 11th. After this, she’ll kick off another North American leg of her Short n’ Sweet tour, including three shows at Madison Square Garden.
