Glastonbury 2025: Robbie Williams teases surprise performance with cryptic post

Robbie Williams has hinted at a surprise performance at Glastonbury Festival with a cryptic social media post.

On June 27th, hours before the music begins on the major stages at Worthy Farm, Williams shared two images on his social media, including a plaque that commemorated his visit to the festival in 1995. The blue plaque reads, “Robbie Williams entered this area without accreditation, authorisation, or alignment with prevailing taste.”

The message continues: “His presence was uninvited, unofficial and ultimately inevitable.”

Williams’ visit to Glastonbury Festival in 1995 has been well documented, including in his Netflix documentary. At the time, he was on the brink of quitting Take That, and found himself hanging around with Oasis during Glastonbury weekend, which proved to be pivotal in his decision to leave the boyband life.

Reflecting on the experience, he told NME in 2022: “I started getting ideas about writing my own songs. One thing led to another and I made the cardinal mistake of breaking the rules. They couldn’t contain me anymore.”

Williams continued: “I set off with [a] flute full of champagne and a pocket full of cocaine, ready to get insane in the membrane and I went to Glastonbury to begin what I didn’t know was to be the start of my new life. When I was there, I hung out with this lot…”

The cover art for his new album, Britpop, features an image of Williams in a red Adidas tracksuit, which was taken during that fabled weekend. Now, he’s seemingly returned to the scene of the crime, posting an image from the site of Glastonbury on his social media.

Today, there is two notable secret sets listed at Glastonbury. However, Lorde previously alluded to her being the surprise performer on the Woodsies Stage at 11:30am, and Lewis Capaldi, who has returned with a new single, has also hinted at being the TBA act on the Pyramid Stage later this afternoon.

Nevertheless, Glastonbury is always full of special guest slots during prominent sets, and even if he doesn’t perform a full show, Williams, if he’s genuinely at the festival, could pop up to join another act at Worthy Farm.
