Glastonbury 2025: Robbie Williams denies he is playing festival

Robbie Williams has taken to his Instagram stories to deny speculation that he will be performing a secret set at Glastonbury Festival this year, just hours after a cryptic post appeared to suggest that he would be making an appearance.

In his story, the singer stated, “I’m not performing this year,” before going on to list a number of personal recommendations of artists to watch over the weekend for those who are in attendance.

“If you are there go and see – The 1975, Busta Rhymes, Self Esteem, Charli XCX, Reverend and the Makers,” he continued, sharing his diverse selection of picks. Earlier on Friday, Williams had taken to Instagram to share two photos with the caption “30 YEARS LATER…”, followed by an emoji of a detective.

The photos showed a close-up of a mock blue plaque at Glastonbury akin to those found across the UK to commemorate a link between a place and a person or historical event, which read: “Robbie Williams entered this area without accreditation, authorisation, or alignment with prevailing taste. His presence was uninvited, unofficial and ultimately inevitable.”

The blue plaque directly references the 30th anniversary of his famed visit to the festival, where he partied with Oasis following his departure from Take That.

While fans initially believed this to be a sign that Williams was at the festival and scheduled to perform, many now believe that the post was intended as a means to stir the rumour mill and generate hype for his upcoming 13th studio album, Britpop.

The album’s artwork also features a photo of Williams with bleach blonde hair and sporting a red tracksuit, which was taken during his visit to the 1995 edition of the festival.
