Glastonbury 2025: CMAT leads “Free Palestine” chant at the Pyramid Stage
CMAT served up an incredible slice of fun on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival, but she finished on a serious note by encouraging a “Free Palestine” chant.
The Irish performer took to the esteemed stage before an early afternoon Friday crowd and performed a blistering set of banger after banger. She opened with the chirpy ‘Have Fun!’ and encouraged singing and dancing throughout the show.
The singer even cried, “Don’t sue me, Jamie Oliver!” after performing her latest release, ‘Jamie Oliver Petrol Station’, with a picture of the celebrity chef on the bottom of her leotard.
Before this, CMAT revealed that she had endured thousands of online hate comments about her appearance last year from videos taken at shows. All water off a duck’s back for the star, as she moved into a flawless rendition of ‘Take a Sexy Picture of Me’. The crowd hung on to her every word. The sheer personality was palpable.
For her final song, ‘Stay for Something’ she joined the audience, forcing them to make an opening at the front of the crowd. After, she ran down the front row, high-fiving her adoring fans. At the end of the song, CMAT took a bow with her rock and roll country band, who were dressed all in electric blue.
“Thank you so much, have a great festival, stay safe!” she shouted, and then, “Free Palestine.” As she began walking off the stage, CMAT led the chant, “Free Free..” to which the audience responded, “Palestine!” She blew them a final kiss, and made her exit.
Elsewhere, rock group Inhaler dedicated a song during their set to the people of Palestine, whilst speaking out against “the genocide”. Irish hip-hop trio Kneecap are expected to perform an explicitly political set amid terror charges against member Mo Chara for shouting “up Hamas, up Hezbollah” at a 2024 show.
There are still hundreds more acts to come. Far Out are live on the ground giving you all the latest updates. The evening will see The 1975 headline The Pyramid Stage, and Loyle Carner headline The Other Stage.
