The wait is finally over, and Glastonbury Festival has rolled around once again. While revellers have been at Worthy Farm for 48 hours already, today is the day that the action truly starts with The 1975 set to headline the Pyramid Stage.

Over 200,000 fans have secured entry to Glastonbury to witness the highlight of the British music calendar. Glastonbury never fails to create unforgettable moments that will go down in history. For those who missed out on tickets, don’t fret—Far Out is on the ground in Somerset to provide coverage directly from the event.

Well, it’s been emotional…

As The 1975 finish up, so do we. It was all too much for Matty Healy as he was brought to tears at the end of his band’s headline performance, and we know how he feels.

See you tomorrow for more Glastonbury fun.

The 1975 bow out with ‘About You’

After a 90-minute set, which covered the full breadth of their back catalogue, The 1975 bowed out with ‘About You’, which appeared on their most recent album, Being Funny In a Funny Language.

We’ve had rock, we’ve had pop, and just about everything between, but this duet between Healy and Carly Holt is a heartfelt way for the band to bring their set to a close at Glastonbury.

Watch The 1975 perform ‘Love It If We Made It’

Following the comments regarding their decision to back out of politics, The 1975 then played the overtly political song, ‘Love It If We Made It’, which is somewhat drenched in irony.

Nevertheless, it went down a storm with the Glastonbury faithful.

Matty Healy explains why they are avoiding politics

During his set, Matty Healy explained why he doesn’t want to speak about politics any more despite the state of the world, saying, “Use your platform, that’s what people say. People watching this, they might be disappointed at the lack of politics in this show, and our future shows. I want you to know its a conscious decision, we don’t want our legacy to be one of politics. We want it to be that of love and friendship.”

He continued: “I’m not trying to be too earnest, but you can go out into the world, and there’s loads of politics everywhere. I think we don’t need more politics. We need more love and friendship. I know that’s really basic but if you are a young kid and inspired by this band or something like that, don’t aspire to play a stage or be a certain size, aspire for this level of friendship and love in what you do.”

While The 1975 have previously been outspoken on an array of topics, and artists such as Inhaler and CMAT have used their platform to speak out in support of Palestine at Glastonbury, they have chosen to avoid the subject at Glastonbury on the biggest stage of their career.

Loyle Carner dedicates song to son and says “fuck Nigel Farage”

“When I was putting my son and daughter to bed I started singing a little bit”, Loyle Carner tells the crowd at his headline performance on The Other Stage. Having already lit up the stage, the rapper stripped things back for a vocal-led performance of ‘Lyin’.

Speaking about his own anxiety, Carner shared how singing can relieve the worries of the world, stating, “I remember sometimes why I sing, it’s not ‘cos I’m good at it, because I’m not, it feels good. This next song goes out to my son.”

The 1975 raise the volume before turning it back down

As The 1975 have just shown with their thunderous rendition of ‘People’, they can be an old-school rock band when they want to be. The track was the loudest they’ve been all night, and saw Healy deliver screams that one doesn’t naturally associate with the indie-pop outfit.

However, straight afterwards, The 1975 turned the volume straight back down as Healy delivered a solo acoustic rendition of the sweet and tender ‘Be My Mistake’, which couldn’t be further away from ‘People’. It’s astonishing both these songs are by the same band, but they’ve cleverly partnered them in the setlist for this very reason.

Loyle Carner brings out Sampha as special guest

It’s not only the biggest night of The 1975’s career tonight, but also for Loyle Carner, who is topping the bill on The Other Stage, and he’s been joined by his trusted old friend Sampha, who performed their hit collaboration ‘Desoleil’ with Carner.

Following the release of his fourth album, Hopefully!, Carner is stepping up to headliner status, and ever since he has elevated his set-up to include a full band, his live show has gone through the roof. While this kind of show would have been a step too far a few years ago, Carner’s sound is beautifully filling the field.

Matty Healy: “I’m the best songwriter of my generation”

Speaking to the crowd, Healy explained how he has a problem with being sincere before promising to momentarily be sincere, stating, “I’m probably the best songwriter of my generation, the best poet, ladies and gentlemen, that’s what I am, a generational wordsmith.”

He then led the band through a rendition of ‘Chocolate’, which by his own admission, contains lyrics that could have been written on a fag packet, and paint his previous comments in a humourous light.

The 1975 cover Backstreet Boys

In an unexpected turn of events, The 1975 somehow managed to cover ‘I Want It That Way’ by the Backstreet Boys during ‘She’s American’. Well, that certainly wasn’t on my bingo card, but the crowd lapped up the bizarre interpolation.

Before playing the track, in a heartfelt moment, Healy addressed his nerves regarding the occasion, admitting, “This is really scary and I’m really nervous. But I love all of you for coming.”

The 1975 are asking Glastonbury to ‘Love Me’

Following the start of their set with ‘Happiness’, and ‘If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know)’, The 1975 are now performing the funk-filled ‘Love Me’, which is making the Worthy Farm faithful dance the night away.

Before introducing the song, Healy quipped: “It’s 2025. With zero irony, here’s a guitar solo”

On another note, after having a whole three sips of Guinness, which made him move like a maniac but still somehow not lose his footing, Matty Healy has now put his pint of the black stuff away.

Headliners, The 1975, are on the Pyramid Stage!

After months of anticipation, the wait is finally over and The 1975 are on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. Frontman Matty Healy has swapped his usual tipple of choice, a bottle of red wine, for a pint of Guinness, and the band have immediately burst into a rendition of ‘Happiness’. Although the glove is a questionable choice…

Considering it’s the first time they’ve performed in more than a year, The 1975 look ready to rock Worthy Farm and haven’t missed a beat so far.

30 minutes until The 1975 arrive

It has been 15 months since The 1975 last performed together. Since then, even Matty Healy has successfully managed to stay away from the public eye, but tonight, they make their grand return on the biggest stage in British music.

Their performance at Glastonbury will be their only set of 2025, and while they are confirmed to be working on a new album, there’s no guarantee they will play any unreleased material tonight. One thing is for certain, and that is The 1975 are not treating tonight as a normal show, spending four times their fee on production costs, suggesting they have an abundance of tricks up their sleeve. If tonight goes to plan, it could be a legacy-defining set.

Revisit their last appearance at Glastonbury below.

The 1975’s Matty Healy comments about headlining Glastonbury in 2013

Every British band aspires to one day headline Glastonbury, but very few successfully climb their way to the top of the Pyramid Stage. In 2013, The 1975 released their debut album, and before then, Healy was already dreaming of the slot at the top of the Glastonbury bill. However, he didn’t actually think it would happen.

Healy told Some Kind of Awesome: “Headlining Glastonbury?! Now we’ve started, you might as well reach for the sky and the mountain tops innit. I don’t know, man. I just want people to feel about our records the same way records made me feel you know. I want our record to be, you know like, antiquated soundtrack to someone’s memories.”

He continued: “Something that makes someone feel like genuinely emotional, the same way I feel when I hear ‘Only You’ by Yazoo. Like it actually can make me feel physically sick. If we’re in a position as a band that we can connect with people at that level then that’s all we care about. And that I can buy fags and a sandwich.”

Well, Healy can certainly afford cigarettes and meal deals now that he’s a Glastonbury headliner.

PinkPantheress and Just Jack have stars in their eyes

During her set at Woodsies, PinkPantheress was unexpectedly joined by late-2000s popstar Just Jack, who rolled back the years with a performance of ‘Stars In Their Eyes’.

While it’s a somewhat bizarre link-up, PinkPantheress did previously sample the track on her song ‘Stars’ in 2022, which is what she performed at Glastonbury with a little help on the chorus from Just Jack.

Biffy Clyro return to Worthy Farm

While it’s one of the most desirable slots at Glastonbury Festival, second to the top on the Pyramid Stage can be a difficult set that many have struggled with over the years. Naturally, many in attendance are simply waiting to see the main headliner, like in 2023 when Lil Nas X performed before Elton John. However, Biffy have previously done this same slot before Ed Sheeran in 2017, and know exactly what it takes.

With more than 20 years behind them, headline sets at Reading and Leeds, Download, TRNSMT, Biffy Clyro can produce a seasoned festival set at the click of the fingers. Playing hits like ‘Mountains’, and ‘That Golden Rule’ early on ensured the Worthy Farm crowd are immediately happy, and now, Biffy will be looking to keep the positive momentum flying for the next 45 minutes.

Watch Wunderhorse perform ‘The Rope’

Jacob Slater is a man in his element as Wunderhorse perform on The Park Stage, there’s been many highpoints during the set, such as ‘Arizona’ and ‘Leader of the Pack’, but new single ‘The Rope’ felt particularly special.

Wunderhorse step up on The Park Stage

Every few years, people claim that guitar music has died, but as Alex Turner once famously said while inebriated at the Brit Awards, “That rock ‘n’roll, eh? That rock’n’roll, it just won’t go away.” Right now, on The Park Stage at Glastonbury, Wunderhorse are proving him right.

Although they have been around for several years, the last 12 months have seen them step it up another level, and at Glastonbury, they are proving they can stand tall among the big boys.

Gracie Abrams had the crowd in the palm of her hand during her set this year on the Other Stage, delivering a reminder of why she is one of the most followed pop stars of the moment.

As Blossoms played the final track of their set, ‘Gary’, on Woodsies, those watching at home were frustrated to discover the feed had been cut as the Stockport five-piece were gearing up to end their performance on a high note.

No, it wasn’t due to anything controversial, instead, it was an issue with the generator that caused the feed to cut. The band wrote on social media: “Sorry glasto generator went down… we were just too hot in the end.”

Best flag of the weekend?

Glastonbury has a tradition of incredibly creative flags from festival-goers, so far, we’ve seen ones celebrating Rod Stewart drunkenly delivering the Scottish Cup Draw and countless other bizarrely niche football references adorned on flags.

But, this Brat-inspired one below, celebrating Loose Women’s Denise Welch ahead of her son headlining the Pyramid Stage tonight with The 1975, might be the greatest so far…

Blossoms time!

Blossoms have a storied history with Glastonbury in recent years. In 2022, they performed a wondrous set in the sun on The Other Stage, which saw them team up with Mel C for a cover of ‘Spice Up Your Life’, then, in 2023, they performed as a luxury The Smiths cover band alongside Rick Astley.

Today, they are back on Woodsies, the same stage they performed in 2023, delivering the catalogue of hits they’ve amassed in the last decade since their chart-topping debut and cementing their status as Glastonbury stalwarts. ‘Honey Sweet’ is currently going down an absolute treat with those in the sweaty tent.

While he’s known as an actor, Capaldi can also sing and dance, as he proved when he performed with his compatriots on The Other Stage. This kind of unexpected moment is precisely what Glastonbury is all about.

The weirdest moment of Glastonbury so far…

The live debut of Lola Young’s new single, ‘Not Like That Anymore, called for a unique move from the young star. The single cover art shows Lola posing with a doll, with an eerily similar face to hers. At first, Young teased the fans in classic Glastonbury tradition: “I’m going to bring someone special on the stage if you don’t mind.”

She then grabbed the blow-up doll and held it up high. “Uh huh, it’s me. Let’s do this one,” she declared, twirling the object around the stage and pretending to have intercourse with herself in keeping with the humorous chorus. “Come here, baby, I’ve got you,” she addressed the doll halfway through the song.

He then quipped, “Second time is a charm,” before thanking Glastonbury for letting him return to “finish” his set.

Lewis Capaldi is on the Pyramid Stage!

One of the worst-kept secrets in Glastonbury history is over, as Lewis Capaldi has made his triumphant return to the Pyramid Stage two years after he was forced to abandon his set.

What happened when Lewis Capaldi last played Glastonbury?

In 2023, Lewis Capaldi’s set at Glastonbury was supposed to be the start of an unforgettable summer for the Scottish singer-songwriter. He was set to headline Reading and Leeds, as well as a host of other huge outdoor shows. Heartbreakingly, Capaldi, who has been open about his struggles with anxiety and Tourette’s, was unable to finish his set.

Beautifully, the crowd at Worthy Farm in 2023 were able to cover for him on vocal duties on ‘Somebody You Loved’, and it made for one of the weekend’s most touching moments.

Shortly afterwards, Capaldi stepped out of the public eye but is now set to make his comeback on the very same stage.

As Lewis Capaldi prepares to make his live comeback after two years on the Pyramid Stage this afternoon, take a trip down memory lane to when he mocked the Gallagher brothers with his entrance in 2019.

Before the show, Noel Gallagher had fired a jab in his direction, which is a sign that you’ve made it as a pop star. In response, Capaldi played the clip on The Other Stage before walking out in sunglasses and a Parka, which must have even made Noel chuckle.

‘Davina McCall’, named after the beloved British TV presenter, was only released earlier this week, but it received a warm reception from the crowd who encouraged the change in sonic direction from Wet Leg who are looking to spread their wings on their new record.

Paul McCartney is at Glastonbury watching Inhaler

Performing at Glastonbury is a nerve-wracking occasion for any band, let alone when Paul McCartney is watching on from the side of the stage, but that’s what met Inhaler this afternoon for their set on the Pyramid Stage.

McCartney is good friends with frontman Hewson’s father, Bono, which likely explains why he’s watching the Irish indie band strut their stuff.

Fingers crossed this isn’t the last we see of Macca and he’ll pop up to make a surprise appearance sometime during Glastonbury weekend. He’s previously performed with Neil Young, therefore, that is now looking like a feasible possibility, which would be a Glastonbury moment for the ages.

Hewson, whose father is U2 frontman Bono, continued: “I feel like we have to say that because our greatest strength is freedom of expression, and there’s no better place for it than right here at Glastonbury. So, be kind to each other, and have a great time.”

Inhaler then performed a triumphant rendition of the heartfelt ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This’, which was an appropriate message of hope following Hewson’s speech.

CMAT ends set in style

The Pyramid Stage can be a daunting occasion, and has eaten countless acts alive over the years, but not CMAT. Although during the set she admitted it was the most nervous she’d ever been, the Dublin singer-songwriter didn’t allow her emotions to become visible.

Now, he’s playing to a packed tent at Glastonbury, where fans have flocked to hear his brand of radio-friendly pop, which is seemingly going down well with the crowd at Woodsies.

Always wear sunscreen

Thankfully, the weather at Worthy Farm has been an almost perfect climate for a festival so far, with no heavy rainfalls, and hopefully it stays that way.

The ever-reliable X account, Secret Glasto, is not only the place to visit for news on late-night sets in Shangri-La, and special guest appearances, but they also offer words of wisdom when it comes to the weather too, writing, “Get the suncream on you slags, UV very high. Don’t be fooled by the breeze.”

What time do The 1975 begin their set?

Today, all roads are leading towards The 1975’s headline set on the Pyramid Stage, which is the only place to see them perform live all year and promises to be a spectacular affair.

Their set is scheduled to begin at 22:15pm and conclude at 23:45, which gives Matty Healy plenty of time to make his stamp on the festival while also delivering their biggest hits such as ‘The Sound’, ‘Love It If We Made It’, and ‘About You’. It remains to be seen whether they’ll have any surprises in-store…

Earlier this week, it was reported that The 1975 had spent four times their fee for playing at Glastonbury on their production costs, suggesting they are readying a headline set for the ages which will be anything but a typical show. Today is the day their entire career has been building towards, and having worked their way up from the smaller stages, The 1975 know the importance of Glastonbury more than most.

Meanwhile, on the Pyramid Stage…

At the same time that Lorde was entertaining the packed out crowd at Woodsies, Supergrass were bring a dose of Britpop fun to the Pyramid Stage and playing their sun-soaked hits to a huge crowd.

Is there a better way to kick off a festival than ‘Alright’? Answers on a postcard, please…

Lorde gives Glastonbury the ‘Green Light’ to go wild

As much as hearing Virgin in full was an emotive experience for those at Woodsies, nothing beats hearing beloved hits like ‘Green Light’ that have soundtracked their lives for years, and made them fall in love in the first place.

Lorde closed her set in epic style with the Melodrama hit, which had the crowd eating out of the palm of her hands.

Watch below.

Lorde performs ‘Ribs’

While her set was supposed to only include her new album, Virgin, in full, Lorde ensured the mammoth crowd at Woodsies, who had been waiting for her set since the early hours, left on a high with ‘Ribs’.

The beloved track was sung back by the entire tent with Lorde also looking like she was wrapped up in the moment.

Lorde delivers heartfelt speech to crowd

Lorde’s return to Glastonbury has acted as the perfect place for her to launch Virgin, which wasn’t lost on the singer, who told the crowd: “Morning. How you doing, you okay? This is fucking sick. Thank you so much for being here with us on the day that Virgin is born. We decided to play the whole record for you to front to back, this may be a one of one.”

She continued: “This record took me a lot, I didn’t know if I would make another record to be honest, but I’m back here, completely free. I am so grateful to you for waiting. Grateful for you sitting in the sun right now. Its going to be a sick fucking festival.”

Glastonbury Festival is certainly thankful that Lorde did make another record right now.

Why is Lorde not playing any old songs at Glastonbury?

During her set, Lorde explained to the crowd at Woodsies that she is exclusively playing songs from her new album, Virgin, in full, which is disappointing for the portions of the crowd who were expecting her to play hits like ‘Royals’ and ‘Green Light’.

Additionally, the album was only released today, and everyone has been stuck at Glastonbury for 48 hours, which means they haven’t had an opportunity to hear the record before. Still, tracks like ‘Hammer’ and ‘What Was That’, which she released as singles, were met triumphantly by the crowd.

How big is Lorde’s crowd?

Unsurprisingly, due to Lorde being one of the biggest artists on the planet, and her set not clashing with any other big hitters, not everybody was successful in their attempt to squeeze into Woodsies. The crowd extends far beyond the tent, but fortunately, it’s still possible to hear it from outside the tent.

A giant screen outside the tent reads: “You will be able to see and hear from outside the tent”.

While there’s no clear number of how many are in attendance, the crowd stretches as far as the eye can see and it’s hard to imagine anyone else attracting a bigger Woodsies crowd all weekend.

Lorde plays ‘What Was That’

Lorde is having the time of her life currently on the Woodsies Stage, delighting the crowd with hits from Virgin, which is out today. Seeing an artist of this stature, who previously played the Pyramid Stage in 2022, in such a relatively intimate surrounding is a treat that’s not lost on those in attendance.

The fact that artists like Lorde are willing to travel from across the world to perform a set at 11:30am says everything about the appeal of Glastonbury, which is unrivalled as a festival.

One to keep an eye on…

While there’s perhaps nothing in this, Robbie Williams raised eyebrows this morning by posting a photo from Worthy Farm which has got tongues wagging regarding a potential secret set.

He also shared an image of a plaque that commemorated his visit to the festival in 1995, which hilariously reads: “Robbie Williams entered this area without accreditation, authorisation, or alignment with prevailing taste.”

The message continues: “His presence was uninvited, unofficial and ultimately inevitable.”
