Fred Durst and Bill Corgan reveal new project with Bill Maher
Fred Durst and Bill Corgan, the respective lead singers of Limp Bizkit and Smashing Pumpkins, will begin hosting shows on Bill Maher’s new Club Random podcast network. While details of Corgan’s show are yet to be revealed, Durst will explore UFOs and conspiracy theories.
Maher made the decision Durst and Corgan after they appeared on his show, and he felt a special connection with the two.
“I never knew Fred or Bill [before their appearances]. But something good happens there,” he said, discussing his decision to get the two on board, “And I can feel like I’m best friends for life with somebody who I just talked to for an hour and a half. That’s the quality we want – a nighttime feel.”
As Maher continues to expand his podcast network, he has also enlisted help from former NBA player Kevin Garnett and ex-ESPN anchor Sage Steele.
Durst and Corgan have busy summers ahead of them after committing to the new shows, as they have headline tours coming up with their bands. Corgan will soon go on a UK and European tour with Smashing Pumpkins before heading out with Green Day in North America. Meanwhile, Durst and his group are headlining a North American tour with support from Corey Feldman.
The new podcast adds to the resurgence for Durst. Following the success of the Limp Bizkit shows last year, despite the new album being called Still Sucks, the band are cementing themselves as a part of the mainstream once again. Meanwhile, Smashing Pumpkins remain as busy as ever, continuously touring and releasing records.
Corgan is also starring in his own reality TV programme on CW. The show chronicles his daily life because, as well as being a member of Smashing Pumpkins, he is the president of the National Wrestling Alliance. The upcoming programme also gives viewers insight into various other aspects of his life.
As of yet, there are no details on when the new podcasts might premiere. However, the endeavours are likely to be successful, given that both singers have already amassed further popularity in recent years, paired with Maher’s backing, an audience is undoubtedly waiting for them.
More details surrounding the podcasts’ release date and subject matter will follow.
