Watch Foo Fighters play ‘Statues’ for the first time in Perth
The Dave Grohl-fronted rock group Foo Fighters performed their 2007 song ‘Statues’ live for the first time ever during a recent concert in Perth, Australia.
The band took the stage in the Australian city on November 29th. Alongside their usual roster of towering hits, Foo Fighters decided to whip out a couple of rarities from their studio album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, namely ‘Statues’ and ‘Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners’.
The first of the rarities was ‘Statues’. Grohl picked up his acoustic guitar for the more delicate song and was backed by guitarist Chris Shiflett and keyboardist Rami Jaffee.
Following ‘Statues’, Grohl and the band performed ‘Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners’ for the first time since 2018. The song was written as a tribute to two miners trapped in the Beaconsfield gold mine collapse in Tasmania, Australia, in 2006.
Foo Fighters will continue to tour Australasia over the coming weeks, with concerts booked in Brisbane, Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington. These dates will conclude a triumphant year of live performance following the tragic death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022.
Earlier in 2023, Foo Fighters played a secret set on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage after naming themselves The ChurnUps on the bill. Although the secret was poorly kept, the show was a glorious return to the stage for Grohl following his guest appearance alongside Paul McCartney in 2022.
Meanwhile, Foo Fighters were recently joined by H.E.R. for a performance of ‘The Glass’ from their newest album, But Here We Are, during an appearance on Saturday Night Live. Following the triumphant collaboration, H.E.R. released her own version of the track.
