Foo Fighters confirm release of new single, ‘Asking For a Friend’
Foo Fighters have confirmed the release of new single, ‘Asking For a Friend’, on October 23rd.
The official announcement of the forthcoming single comes after weeks of heavy teasing on social media from the Dave Grohl-fronted rock band that new music was on the horizon.
In a new social media post, Foo Fighters shared a 15-minute clip of the track which hears Grohl wailing the title of the new song, and also delivering a ferocious scream.
Foo Fighters also shared an image of the band members featuring Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jaffee, and new drummer Ilan Rubin. However, it has not been confirmed whether Rubin plays on ‘Asking For a Friend’.
The new single is set to be available to listen to for fans in the UK at 3pm BST on October 23rd, which is 10am EDT and 7am PDT.
Last week, Foo Fighters took to Instagram on October 16th to share a snippet of new music along with a video that depicts a parrot perched on the top of a series of amps in front of their famous logo. The teaser was captioned, “About to take flight…”
Next month, they are set to play the Estadio Banorte in Monterrey, Mexico, with Queens of the Stone Age and Jehnny Beth, before headlining Corona Capital in Mexico City on November 14th.
Before shows in Singapore and Japan last month, Foo Fighters had not toured in an official capacity since the summer of 2024. However, they did complete an impromptu string of shows across intimate venues in the United States this summer, which they later released exclusively on Bandcamp as a live album.
In May, Foo Fighters released ‘Today’s Song’, which arrived to coincide with their 30th anniversary. It remains unclear whether this will appear on any forthcoming album or was a one-off single.
