Father John Misty has announced that all of the proceeds from the FJM web store from the 2nd to July 6th will go to the non-profit charity to benefit migrant families.
This follows the criticism Donald Trump faced last month for its policy of dividing families at the border between Mexico and the U.S., with children being detained separately from their parents. Multiple artists, public figures and record labels rallied to bring both attention and fundraising to causes aimed towards supporting those children and other migrants, such as the Refugee and Immigrant Centre for Education and Legal Services (RAICES). There were also massive rallies for the families all across America last weekend.
Now, Father John Misty has announced all profits from his web store between July 2-July 6 will go towards RAICES. This includes all proceeds from vinyl, clothes, and more. Have a look here, and treat yourself to some FJM merch.
His most recent album God’s Favorite Customer was released earlier this year to critical acclaim. Following the release of the album Father John Misty also shared some behind-the-scenes footage of the creative process behind the record. Aptly titled ‘The Making of God’s Favorite Customer’ it sees Pappa John crooning away and employing his natural dancing technique… with a skull.
In the video, directed by Grant James, sees Tillman belting out the opening track ‘Hangout at the Gallows.’ It continues as he fiddles around with the title track ‘God’s Favorite Customer’, with a cameo from Weyes Blood, he then takes on ‘Disappointing Diamonds Are the Rarest of Them All,’ as well as ‘Mr. Tillman.’
