Everything But The Girl to perform first shows in 25 years

English electronic duo Everything But The Girl, are set to return to the stage for the first time in 25 years for two special shows next month.

While they haven’t committed to a full tour, the band’s Tracy Thorn and Ben Watt will perform at London’s Moth Club on April 6th and April 7th. The venue only holds 300 people, therefore, tickets have been restricted to those from the United Kingdom who are signed up to their mailing list.

Watt said of the shows: “We loved making Fuse together in 2022, and we wanted to do something else. And that slowly turned into a conversation about playing live again.”

Thorn added: “When we pictured how, we realised we just wanted to play a few songs – including some we’d never done before – in a small club. Front room, friends and family vibe. If the shows go well we intend to do more.”

Technically, the show is being billed as ‘Ben Watt and Tracy Thorn’ rather than Everything But The Girl, but they will be performing tracks from their solo and duo years. The pair will perform as a part-acoustic part-electronic duo accompanied by Rex Horan on double bass duties.

The band’s website promises to deliver “no club bangers, no huge arena, just a chilled folk-tronic vibe.” The show will consist of two sets with an interval.

In 2023, Everything But The Girl returned with Fuse, their first album in 24 years. In a three-and-a-half-star review, Far Out wrote: “In Fuse, Everything But The Girl have picked up where they left off with their last two albums, 1996’s Walking Wounded and 1999’s Temperamental. Continuing their latter dance incarnation, Thorn and Watt have evolved from the ’90s rave scene with an updated album influenced by modern house/techno and R&B styles.”
