Elon Musk unveils plans for Grok to make an AI ‘The Odyssey’ movie “before this year ends”
Elon Musk has continued his tirade against Christopher Nolan’s latest movie after announcing that his AI tool, Grok, will make a “historically accurate” full-length feature of The Odyssey by the end of 2026
Musk has previously been vocal about his criticism of the new blockbuster, posting previously on X that “Chris Nolan has lost his integrity” for casting Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy in the ancient story. He added, “Chris Nolan is an anti-White racist.”
He later went on to add, “Chris Nolan desecrated the Odyssey so that he would be eligible for an Academy Award.”
Now, as The Odyssey hits cinemas worldwide with a staggering $264 million opening weekend, Musk has forged a new comeback.
“Before this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer,” he posted on X, alongside an AI-generated three-minute short of The Odyssey, posted by another X user.
His claim that the AI film will be “historically accurate” is contestable, given that it is a near 2,800-year-old epic which contains magical elements such as a cyclops, six-headed monsters and a witch.
However, the world’s richest man seems committed to pushing out his own version of the classic tale.
Elsewhere on the social media platform, a different user asked Musk to give filmmaker Mel Gibson $100 million to produce a version of The Odyssey which features historically accurate ships, weapons and armour. Curtly, Musk replied, “I’m down.”
In a glowing five-star review, Far Out wrote of Nolan’s latest picture, “The Odyssey is the film event of the year because it realises Nolan’s ambition of making cinema that needs to be experienced, and not just consumed. This is a story that can’t exactly be ‘spoiled’, but the visualisation, thematic analysis, and emotional calculations inherent to the filmmaker’s interpretation justify another retelling.”
