Disturbed frontman David Draiman calls Tom Morello “shameful” for Kneecap support

David Draiman has hit out at Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello after he declared Kneecap as the successor to his former band’s throne.

Morello has been a prominent supporter of the Irish trio. He previously signed a petition in support of Kneecap after it was confirmed that the Metropolitan Police were investigating them.

Since then, the Metropolitan Police have formally charged Mo Chara with a terror offence following the conclusion of the investigation into footage from 2024, which sees the rapper shouting “Up Hamas, Up Hezbollah!” at a London show. He appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on June 18th, where he was granted unconditional bail and was ordered to return to court on August 20th for his next hearing.

Now, the Disturbed frontman, David Draiman, has reacted to the news of Morello’s new comments; he shared Far Out’s original article on social media, adding his own thoughts to the story. “Shameful. Truly,” he began.

The singer continued, “Wish I could say I was shocked. Guess my family doesn’t count, when it comes to my ‘friend’s’ virtue signaling for those who support terror, and incite Jew hatred.”

The pair have collaborated before on musical projects; Morello appeared on the debut album of Device, another of Draiman’s bands. Most recently, Draiman was part of the huge Black Sabbath farewell show in Birmingham, which Morello oversaw as creative director.

At the show on July 5th in Villa Park, Draiman was booed by the huge audience, likely due to his support of Israel in the current Gaza conflict. The star made a lengthy Facebook post in reaction, that said in part: “I wasn’t ‘booed off stage’ as so many people in the press and CERTAINLY Free Palestine crowd, would have you believe. Yes, there were a few boos when I walked out, but I came to pay homage to my teachers, my idols, the mighty Black Sabbath, and I wasn’t about to let a few Jew-hating morons deter that.”

Draiman has attracted significant controversy over his support of Israel during the current conflict in Palestine, particularly when he visited Israeli army bases last year and signed bombs for them.
