D4vd dropped from advertising campaign amid investigation into body found in Tesla
Crocs and Hollister have reportedly dropped singer D4vd after a dead body was found in a Tesla registered in his name in Los Angeles.
Last week, the two brands teamed up with the star for a new advertising campaign, “set in D4vd’s surrealist dreamscape” to promote their latest collaborative collection, Dream Drop.
On September 8th, the Los Angeles Police Department made the discovery of human remains in an impounded Tesla in a Hollywood tow yard after reports of a “foul odour coming from an impounded vehicle”.
It later emerged that the vehicle is registered in Hempstead, Texas, to David Anthony Burke, better known by his stage name D4vd.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, the two brands issued a joint statement to Footwear News, which reads, “We are aware of this developing story. With respect to the current situation, we have removed campaign content featuring D4vd while the investigation continues.”
Following the discovery of human remains, a spokesperson for the singer told NBC News that Burke “has been informed about what’s happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities”.
While the identity of the body found in the Tesla is yet to be revealed, it has been confirmed to be a woman, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Another female body was found in a car at a different tow yard in South Los Angeles on September 9th, seven miles away from where the impounded Tesla was discovered. Police spokesperson Jennifer Forkish said of the two incidents: “At this point in the investigation there is no known connection between the two cases.”
D4vd has been on tour across North America for the last two months. He performed in Minnesota in September 9th, and handed out Labubus to those in attendance. Burke also played at The Truman in Kansas City on September 10th. The North American leg of the tour is set to conclude on September 20th at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
He is also scheduled to tour the United Kingdom and Europe throughout October, including two shows at The Roundhouse in London.
