Court seals records relating to death of Celeste Rivas who was found in D4vd’s Tesla
Officials have confirmed that records relating to the death of teenager Celeste Rivas, who was found in D4vd‘s Tesla, have been barred from public release.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office have revealed that the autopsy findings will not be released, in order to prevent the investigation from being jeopardised.
According to the Los Angeles Times, who have obtained the legal documents, Los Angeles Police Department’s detective Joshua Byers made the filing on November 21st, which also characterised the case as a murder probe.
Byers wrote in his court declaration that the release of autopsy findings “will reveal or tend to reveal the ongoing investigation and the integrity of the investigation as well as the identity of witnesses and/or informants who are cooperating with law enforcement and the content of the information they have provided, which could endanger the lives of witnesses and/or compromise the investigation.”
Los Angeles Superior court judge Craig Richman approved the request and said all relevant documents must “be sealed and maintained in a secure location in the custody of the clerk of the court until further order of this court”.
However, Chief Medical Examiner Dr Odey Ukpo, said in a statement of the decision, “The practice of security holds is virtually unheard of in other counties and has not been proven to improve outcomes in the legal system. We are dedicated to serving our community with full transparency; however, the law precludes us from doing so while the court order remains in this case.”
Rivas’ decomposing body was discovered in a Hollywood tow yard on September 8th, and later identified by the Los Angeles Police Department on September 17th. D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, subsequently cancelled all of his future shows.
Last week, ABC News reported Burke is considered a suspect in the ongoing investigation that is being conducted by the Los Angeles Police. No arrests have so far been made in connection to the death of Rivas.
Additionally, NBC 4 Investigates reported that Burke has not been cooperative in the investigation with police.
Rivas, who had been reported missing by her family in 2024, had not been seen publicly for over a year. Her mother has shared that she was aware that Rivas had a boyfriend called David at the time of her disappearance. Rivas and Burke also had matching “Shhh…” tattoos on their right index fingers.
Burke has not commented publicly on the case.
