Coachella 2026: Watch Olivia Rodrigo debut new song, ‘Drop Dead’

Global mega-star Olivia Rodrigo surprised fans in the desert as she joined Addison Rae at Coachella for a live debut of her new single, ‘Drop Dead’.

During the second weekend of the festival, Addison Rae addressed the audience with a pointed question, asking whether her fans had heard “any new music this week.”

To raucous applause, Rodrigo appeared from the back of the stage and first joined Rae for a rendition of her hit song, ‘Headphones On’.

After they ran through the song, the singer-songwriter asked the crowd, “Coachella, how much do we love Miss Addison?”.

After she received the applause she was hoping for, the headliner added, “Oh my god, I might just drop dead.”

Notably, Rodrigo recently released the single ‘Drop Dead’ from her newly announced album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, which is slated for release on June 12th. After the name drop, the pair sang the song as a duet.

Rodrigo’s live debut of the track follows up a Petra Collins-directed music video, in which the pop princess makes history by featuring the Palace of Versailles. In time with the track, she runs from room to room before strapping on a pink guitar and playing it expertly.

Though the appearance at the festival was unexpected, it is not exactly surprising: Rodrigo has established herself as a go-to collaborator to the stars over the past few years, sharing the stage with the likes of No Doubt, David Byrne, and Robert Smith for covers of their own classic tracks.

In that vein, Smith recently revealed (via British Vogue), that he is a huge fan of her songs and they’ve even made some music together.

Elsewhere at the festival, on April 17th, Sabrina Carpenter was joined by none other than pop icon Madonna. She also debuted a new, albeit unreleased song, called ‘Bring Your Love’, after appearing to the sound of the anthemic snap-tracks which open her track ‘Vogue’.
