Coachella 2025: Brian May “awestruck” after performing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ with Benson Boone
Queen guitarist Brian May has reacted to his guest appearance with Benson Boone at Coachella which left him with “no words”.
The ‘Beautiful Things’ singer was joined by May to perform an electric rendition of the classic Queen track ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ during his set on the Coachella Stage on April 11th, which was the stand-out moment from his set.
Following the performance, which marked one of May’s few public appearances since suffering a minor stroke last year, the guitarist took to Instagram to share his elation, writing, “I’m still reeling from last night at Coachella. Thanks to all of you folks who made it feel so special — you know who you are !!!!”
May continued: “And this particular way of concluding Bohemian Rhapsody will be hard to beat in the years to come !!! Thanks. And for Benson and his entire team, I have no words. I’m awestruck. Photo by Allen J. Schaben, I understand. Aeronautics by Benson Boone, esq. Bri”.
Boone has also commented on the appearance and celebrated May’s career, however, he did address the lacklustre reaction from the Coachella crowd towards the Queen icon.
The pop star shared a video on TikTok of himself with a banana attempting to rile the crowd up at the festival, captioning it, “Me trying to get the crowd at Coachella to understand what an absolute legend Brian May is and the cultural impact he has on music and THE WORLD.”
Across the first weekend of Coachella, there were a litany of other guest appearances such as Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong performing with The Go-Go’s, Stormzy joining Chase and Status, Billie Eilish linking up with Charli XCX as well as politician Bernie Sanders introducing Clairo.
Coachella is set to return for its second weekend on April 18th with Green Day, Travis Scott, Lady Gaga and Post Malone to headline.
