Chris Brown pleads guilty to affray over nightclub brawl
Singer-songwriter Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to affray relating to an alleged assault at a central London club.
In May 2025, Brown was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent in Manchester, relating to an alleged attack in a London nightclub in 2023.
Brown was accused of attacking music producer Abraham Diaw with a bottle at the Tape nightclub on February 19th, 2023.
Appearing at Southwark Crown Court in London on July 24th, the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Abraham Diaw was dropped.
Additionally, charges of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place (a tequila bottle) and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm were both dropped.
Brown will be sentenced for a charge of affray (a legal term for a fight, brawl, or the threat of violence) on October 26th.
The singer arrived alongside his security guards at the Court in a tan suit, gold-rimmed sunglasses, and a St Louis Cardinals baseball hat. He waved at the small cluster of fans who had gathered.
At earlier hearings, Brown was ordered to pay a £5 million security fee as part of his bail conditions. This fee also allowed him to go on a world tour, provided that the performer surrendered his passport on arrival in each country.
Brown was originally arrested at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester at 2am on May 15th last year, after arriving in the city on a private jet earlier the day before.
As the news hit the headlines last summer, Brown quickly made light of the situation as he played for thousands of fans in Manchester.
“Thank you for coming and supporting me. And thank you to the jail,” he joked, referring to a spell in custody after his arrest. “It was really nice.”
Brown has not commented publicly since making the plea.
