Watch Bruce Springsteen rock up for surprise appearance with Bon Jovi at Madison Square Garden
Bruce Springsteen made Bon Jovi’s final residency show at Madison Square Garden go out with a bang, after he joined the band for a surprise appearance on stage.
The classic rock band were performing their final show after nine nights at the world-famous New York arena on July 26th when ‘The Boss’ came along to join them for a few songs.
The show had gone off without a hitch, especially given the context that Jon Bon Jovi had been forced to cut their previous show short, due to what was later confirmed as a sinus infection.
However, after rattling off a 19-song setlist including the likes of classic hits such as ‘It’s My Life’ and ‘Livin’ On a Prayer’, as well as the live debut of the band’s 2024 single ‘The People’s House’, the frontman’s voice thankfully seemed in fine fettle.
However, for fans who had feared the worst after Bon Jovi’s hiatus due to his major vocal cord surgery in 2022, they were firmly reassured after Springsteen appeared for the show’s second encore, making the night definitely one to remember.
Introducing the guest as “the king of the great state of New Jersey,” Bon Jovi first sang with Springsteen on his 2005 song ‘Who Says You Can’t Go Home’, before closing the gig with Bruce’s 1978 hit ‘The Promised Land’.
It marked a huge moment for fans of both of the rock and roll legends, as they were seen laughing during the double bill of tunes, and generally enjoying their time on stage together.
It came in stark contrast to the band’s previous show, where the frontman’s illness left him telling the crowd: “I know I’m letting you down and it’s not like me to do that,” before adding, “We’re gonna do one more song, and I’m gonna need your help. We might have to cool it because I’m fucking hurting.”
Bon Jovi told the audience to keep hold of their tickets as he promised to “figure something out” for a later date, although no details of this rescheduling have yet been revealed.
However, with their US stint of the tour now over, UK fans of the classic rock band do not have to wait much longer, as they are set to kick off their next run of shows at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on August 28th.
Thereafter, Bon Jovi will visit Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, on August 30th, before storming Wembley Stadium in London for three nights between September 4th and 9th.
