Bright Eyes announce new EP, release new single ‘Dyslexic Palindrome’

Bright Eyes have announced a new EP, Kids Table, set for release on September 26th via Dead Oceans.

Along with the announcement, the band released the single ‘Dyslexic Palindrome’, featuring Hurray for the Riff Raff. Alynda Segarra sings guest vocals on the haunting, folk-inspired track.

In the chorus, they sing together, “You can make up new meanings for the things that you’re feeling / But it’s a long, long, long, long way from known, in a dyslexic palindrome.”

Of the collaboration, the band said, “Alynda Segarra is one of the most soulful people I have ever encountered. Everything that passes through them is haunted by the weary ghost of American music past.”

They continued, “I have had the good fortune of recording and performing with them on many occasions, and I am always blown away by Alynda’s ability to channel what is both intangible and universal. Seemingly walking along in a second line of skeletons. Blowing on a valiant horn. I know it sounds crazy but, yet, there Alynda is. Always so very present but with one foot on the other side.”

Another track from the project, ‘1st World Blues’, was released in July. The ska-influenced single included a scathing takedown of late-stage capitalism.

Bright Eyes released their last album, Five Dive, All Threes, in 2024. In a three-star review of the album, Far Out wrote, “This is a poignant piece of music that feels somewhat let down by how comfortable it becomes within itself. It’s less an album and more of a deep conversation that you zone out of. It’s a good piece of music, for sure, but it could be treated differently to make something that feels academic, or otherwise placated into a more palatable offering.”
