Brad Wilk says Rage Against the Machine will not tour or play live again

Brad Wilk, drummer of Rage Against the Machine, has announced that the quartet “will not be touring or playing live again”.

On January 3rd, Wilk posted a statement on behalf of Rage Against the Machine on his personal Instagram account. In it, he discussed the band’s cancelled 2023 North American tour and the status of replacement shows.

“I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new tour dates for all the cancelled RATM shows,” he wrote. “So, while there has been some communication that this may be happening in the future… I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will not be touring or playing live again.”

Wilk concluded his statement with an apology and expressed regret: “I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was,” he added: “Bottom of my heart… Thank you to every person who has ever supported us.”

Currently, Wilk is the only member of the band to comment on the situation. There is yet to be an official statement from Rage Against the Machine.

Initially, in February 2023, Rage Against the Machine were scheduled to embark on the North American leg of their ‘Public Service Announcement Tour’. However, via a statement published in October 2022, the group announced they were cancelling all 2023 dates due to frontman Zack de la Rocha tearing his Achilles tendon during a show.

Elsewhere, Tom Morello was the only member present to accept the award when Rage Against the Machine were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in November 2023. “Like most bands,” the guitarist announced, “we have differing perspectives on a lot of things, including being inducted into the Rock Hall.”
