Billie Eilish responds to Lil Yachty lyrics “sexualising” her body
The American pop singer Billie Eilish has spoken out about the crude reference Lil Yachty made to her body in the Drake song ‘Another Late Night’.
Lil Yachty, real name is Miles Parks McCollum, featured on the popular cut from Drake’s eighth studio album, For All the Dogs. The album arrived on October 6th and was previously criticised by Pet Shop Boys for alleged plagiarism in ‘All the Parties’.
In ‘Another Late Night’, Drake sings about the “weirdos” who took to social media to conspire about his relationship with teenage actor Millie Bobby Brown. Midway through the song, McCollum raps: “She had big tits like Billie Eilish, but she couldn’t sing (Drip).”
Soon after the album’s release, listeners took to social media to call Drake and McCollum out for a “crude” and unwarranted reference to Eilish’s body.
Despite the backlash, the ‘Bad Guy’ singer has now addressed the reference with acceptance. “I think it’s fun!” she told Variety in a recent interview. “I’m flattered! Yachty is my friend. Drake is my friend. It’s a joke. I do have big tits. I love it.”
Eilish has been notably candid when discussing her past issues with body image and once revealed that her choice to wear androgynous clothing was a bid to avoid commentary.
Continuing, Eilish asserted that she hadn’t been “trying to have people not sexualise” her. Instead, it was because she “didn’t want people to have access to [her] body, even visually.”
“I have big boobs. I’ve had big boobs since I was nine years old, and that’s just the way I am. That’s how I look,” she concluded.
