Bauhaus singer Peter Murphy cancels tour due to health issues

Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy has cancelled his planned comeback tour for this summer due to health issues.

Murphy recently released his first solo album in a decade, Silver Shade, and had plotted to tour in support of the record. He was due to play shows this summer, including Forever Festival in Milton Keynes alongside The The, Johnny Marr, Kraftwerk, Billy Idol, The Jesus and Mary Chain and The Damned.

Now, in a new statement, Murphy has explained his planned appearances will no longer go ahead. He wrote on Instagram: “It is with regret that, due to recent health issues, I will be unable to perform for you this summer.”

Murphy continued: “I am very much saddened by this news. This situation is hopefully temporary, and we will be able to announce shows in support of Silver Shade at some point in the near future. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. Love Peter x.”

The singer suffered a heart attack in 2019, but made a recovery and later reunited with Bauhaus for a reunion tour in 2022.

However, the last set dates on their reunion tour, scheduled for North America, were cancelled due to Murphy entering a rehabilitation facility. The band shared at the time: “Following a string of critically-hailed reunion shows across continents, Peter Murphy will be entering a rehabilitation facility to attend to his health and well-being.”

Meanwhile, in 2023, Murphy cancelled his appearance in the Celebrating David Bowie tribute tour due to a medical procedure. In late 2024, it was announced Murphy would be participating in the same tour across the UK and Europe in early 2025, but it was later cancelled after the Bauhaus “suddenly fell ill” last December.

Murphy last performed a solo concert in 2020.
