The British Academy Film Awards were dominated by a series of victories for Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos as The Favourite ran riot at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The Favourite, a film set in the early 18th century, telling the tale of Queen Anne’s love triangle with two women while England is at war with the French, scooped seven awards in total having been nominated for 12.
With Olivia Colman landing best leading actress, Rachel Weisz with Best Supporting Actress and plenty more, The Favourite will be heading into the Oscars later this month in confident mood.
Elsewhere, Alfonso Cuaron picked up Best Director for his film Roma which managed to secure four victories overall.
