‘Adolescence’ star Owen Cooper makes guest appearance in Sam Fender music video

Since the hugely popular Netflix series Adolescence shot the young star to fame, Owen Cooper has been booking impressive gigs. His latest job is a surprising foray into the music industry, as he is set to star in the latest Sam Fender music video.

Fender took to his social media to share a still from the video alongside an 8-second clip of the 15-year-old star, who hadn’t acted before his debut in Adolescence. “I get a little bit closer,” the caption read, revealing that the video will be for the single ‘Little Bit Closer’. Owen also shared the clip to his Instagram story.

In the clip, Cooper can be seen from behind with what appears to be a blanket draped over his shoulders. He looks out towards a landscape of hills and a cloudy sky.

Cooper isn’t the only Adolescence actor to star in a Sam Fender music video. For his song ‘Spit Of You’, the musician worked with Stephen Graham. The Adolescence screenwriter acted as Fender’s father in the 2021 music video.

In fact, celebrity spotting in Fender’s music videos could become a pastime for many of his fans. In the video for the popular tune ‘People Watching,’ Fender collaborated with actor Andrew Scott.

Earlier this year, Sam Fender won the Brit Award for ‘Best Alternative/Rock Act’ for People Watching. Fender recently rose to the top of the UK Album Charts for the third time in his career with People Watching, which has also become the first album to surpass 100,000 sales within the first week of sales by a British solo act since Harry Styles’ Harry’s House in 2022. It has also become the fastest-selling vinyl by a British act in the 21st century.

Cooper has also been cast as the young Heathcliff in the film of the classic novel Wuthering Heights, opposite actor Jacob Elordi, who plays the older version of the character. Speaking to 10 News First in Australia, Elordi called Cooper a “tremendous actor” before adding, “He’s a rock star. He’s brilliant and he’s intimidating.”
