Jacob Elordi praises ‘Wuthering Heights’ co-star Owen Cooper: “He’s a rock star”

Jacob Elordi has loaded praise on his teen co-star Owen Cooper in the new film adaptation of Wuthering Heights, claiming that “he’s a rock star.”

Cooper, who had no previous acting experience prior to his critically acclaimed breakout turn in the Netflix drama Adolescence, is now starring as young Heathcliff in the film of the classic novel, opposite Elordi who plays the older version of the character.

Speaking to 10 News First in Australia, Elordi called Cooper a “tremendous actor” before adding, “He’s a rock star. He’s brilliant and he’s intimidating.”

Alordi recalled meeting Cooper for the first time and being struck by his calmness, explaining: “I think the first time I met him I asked, ‘Are you nervous, mate?,’ and he went, ‘No,’ and I thought, ‘Cool … cool, me neither’. But, no, he is a tremendous actor.”

The new adaptation of the 1847 Emily Brontë novel is being directed by Emerald Fennell, whom Elordi previously worked with on the 2023 smash hit Saltburn, and stars Margot Robbie in the lead role of Catherine Earnshaw.

Alongside Robbie, Elordi, and Cooper is an ensemble cast featuring Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton, Hong Chau as Nelly Dean, and Alison Oliver, who will play Isabella Linton.

Wuthering Heights will mark Fennell’s third feature film, and also the third co-produced by Robbie, who worked with the director on both her previous efforts of Saltburn and Promising Young Woman.

It is set to mark the Australian actor’s ongoing return to the screen after her Oscar-nominated performance in 2023’s Barbie, with her upcoming film A Big Bold Beautiful Journey with Colin Farrell slated for release in September this year.

Wuthering Heights is set to hit screens in February 2026.
