Yusuf/Cat Stevens announces first memoir, ‘Cat On The Road To Findout’
Yusuf/Cat Stevens has announced details of his upcoming memoir, Cat On The Road To Findout, which will be released on September 18th, 2025.
The forthcoming project marks the first time Yusuf has told his life story in a book, which provides him with ample space to detail his expansive career, which began in the late 1960s. In addition to reflecting on his musical creations, Yusuf will also delve into his spirituality and the unique journey that he’s been on.
In a statement, Yusuf says of the upcoming book: “I’ve been on an amazing journey, which began in the narrow streets of London, and led me through the most iconic cities, to perform upon the great stage of Western culture, ascending the dizzying heights of wealth, recognition and artistic pinnacles; freely exploring vast ranges of religions and philosophies, wandering through churches, temples, all the way to the Holy abode in Jerusalem — ignoring myths and warnings — and crossing the foreboded, desert heartlands, to arrive at the House of One God in Abrahamic Arabia.”
The legendary singer-songwriter continued: “What finally elevated my perspective was a luminous Book that perfectly alchemized my thoughts, beliefs, with human nature. It taught me Oneness, and my place and purpose within the universe.”
The press release says Cat On The Road To Findout “finally reveals the curious complexity and intellectual reasoning behind his navigation through life” and shares “his lessons of life with those seekers, dreamers, and believers, who still love and admire him”.
After achieving pop superstardom, Yusuf turned his back on the music industry after converting to Islam and changing his name to Yusuf Islam in 1975 after a near-drowning experience that almost cost him his life.
He later thankfully returned to music and, under the moniker of Yusuf/Cat Stevens, has been able to marry these two parts of his life together, which now happily co-exist. Yusuf notably performed a memorable set at Glastonbury Festival in 2023 as part of the legends slot.
