Yusuf/Cat Stevens cancels North American tour amid visa issues

Yusuf/Cat Stevens has cancelled his North American book tour following visa issues.

Initially, on September 29th, Stevens postponed his run of shows in North America, which was due to begin on October 2nd in Philadelphia and conclude on October 21st in Los Angeles.

At the time, he explained of his decision, “Waiting months for visa approvals, we held out as long as we could. However, at this point, the production logistics necessary for my show cannot be arranged in time.”

“North American audiences may still get a chance to see the tour if visa approvals eventually come through,” he explained, before stating that “those dates would be some time away because of other travel tour plans”.

Now, Stevens has confirmed that the dates will be cancelled rather than postponed, revealing in a new statement on December 4th, “Unpredictably, and befuddling to us all, the actual visa finally got delivered after the last scheduled date of the tour had passed.”

Fans who bought tickets will be able to secure a refund from their point of purchase. “I know how disappointing this must be for those of you who were looking forward to the book tour,” Stevens acknowledged.

The singer-songwriter added of the cancellations, “My agent and team explored every possible avenue, but it was all beyond our control. I’m grateful for your patience and your support and I hope something new may be put together in the future, in better and brighter circumstances.”

The tour was in support of his recent book, Cat on the Road to Find Out, with the shows promising to comprise “tales, tunes, and other mysteries”.

Stevens previously completed the UK leg of the tour in September.
