Yungblud announces world tour alongside new album, ‘Idols’
Yungblud has hit fans of his indie-rock offering with a double announcement. He revealed that his fourth studio album, Idols, will be released on July 20th. The Doncaster-born artist will be taking the album on a world tour, performing a series of concerts in Europe and North America.
Yungblud has already released a song from the album, ‘Lovesick Lullaby’, alongside an accompanying music video shot by Charlie Sarsfield.
The musician says of the album, which is set to explore the theme of hero-worship, “We turn to others for an identity before turning to ourselves. Self-belief, self-reclamation, self-evolution and change. As we grow up, we lose our belief in magic and mystery. We begin to rationalise everything; our cage walls build up.”
Support acts for the huge tour have already been announced. On the North American leg, Arkansas singer-songwriter Sawyer Hill will provide support, while Las Vegas band Palaye Royale will join for the European shows, excluding Zurich and Vienna.
The only UK show Yungblud will perform this year is at his own festival, Bludfest. The festival returns for the second year on 21st June in Milton Keynes and will feature performances by Milton Keynes, Chase Atlantic, Brit-nominee Rachel Chinouriri, and rapper Denzel Curry.
Recently, Yungblud discussed how he centres his fans in all creative decisions. He revealed that he even hired a fan to run his social accounts and ensure he is in constant contact with his fan base.
“She built an account called Yungblud Army, and she’s amazing at letting me understand what are people feeling,” he said. “If people are outside and security aren’t treating them right, I know about it because she’s in contact with them.”
