Watch Yungblud and Steven Tyler honour Ozzy Osbourne at the MTV VMAs

Yungblud and Steven Tyler were among the rock stars to honour the life and legacy of Ozzy Osbourne in a performance at the MTV VMAs.

During the awards ceremony on September 7th, the Aerosmith frontman joined the British singer, as well as Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme, to perform a medley of Osbourne’s hits from both his time in Black Sabbath and career as a solo artist. This included the likes of ‘Changes’, ‘Crazy Train’, and ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’.

Prior to the performance, the segment of the show was opened with a video message from Osbourne’s son Jack and other members of his family, who said: “I know for sure it would make him incredibly happy to see these great musicians carry on his legacy,” before all shouting the Prince of Darkness’ famous catchphrase, “Let’s go crazy!”.

As the medley got underway at the UBS Arena in New York, the stars were also joined by a number of Osbourne’s former backing band members to complete the performance, which served as a poignant tribute to the Black Sabbath frontman, who died from a heart attack on July 22nd, at the age of 76.

Yungblud and Tyler were among the most prominent names to have joined Osbourne at his final performance only weeks before his passing, at the Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham.

On that day, July 5th, they performed alongside the likes of classic rock outfits such as Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Slayer, and Alice in Chains, who all came together to bid their final farewell to the Prince of Darkness.

Yungblud had become a close friend of Osbourne in the years before his passing, and previously shared an emotional tribute to the rock pioneer, which said: “I will never forget you – you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage. Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own.”
