Yungblud pays tribute to Ozzy Osbourne: “I will never forget you”
After the Prince of Darkness passed away at the age of 76, rocker Yungblud paid tribute to his hero, Ozzy Osbourne, on social media.
News of Osbourne’s passing broke on July 22nd via social media, as Osbourne’s family wrote a statement which reads: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”
Though Yungblud was the youngest performer at the Black Sabbath farewell show, Back to the Beginning, his relationship to the metal pioneer was no less intense. He has since released his show-stopping cover of ‘Changes’ as a single to raise money for charity, following in Osbourne’s footsteps.
Taking to social media, Yungblud began: “I didn’t think you would leave so soon – the last time we met you were so full of life and your laugh filled up the room. But as it is written with legends, they seem to know the things that we don’t.”
He continued, “I will never forget you – you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage. Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own.”
Reminiscing, the 27-year-old added, “You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me and as I said then and as I will say now for all of us the music was enough. You took us on your adventure – an adventure that started it all.”
He finished with the simple tribute, “I am truly heartbroken. You were the greatest of all time.”
Other stars have united in grief and paid tribute to the iconic performer. Metallica wrote online, “Ozzy and Sharon believed in us and transformed our lives and careers. He taught us how to play in the big leagues while at the same time being warm, welcoming, engaging, and all around brilliant.”
