Wu Lyf announce long-awaited new album and European tour
Manchester‘s Wu Lyf have announced their long-awaited second album, A Wave That Will Never Break, with the new single, ‘Love Your Fate’. They will also head on a European tour in support of the new album.
Wu Lyf have formally returned to the industry after releasing only one album, 2011’s Go Tell Fire to the Mountain. Though the original project reached cult status, they broke up in 2012.
Arriving 15 years after their first record, the new album is produced by Sonic Boom and, according to their official press release, captures the band “sounding as vast and uncompromising as ever.”
The album, which “carries the scale of a sermon delivered at full volume, music that feels physical, devotional and cathartic,” is slated for an April 10th release.
A Wave That Will Never Break will be released through their own L Y F community and will not be available via any major streaming platforms. Instead, the group encourages the work to be “experienced as a whole” along with journals, early access to tickets, and exclusive merchandise and fan forums, not “simply encountered in passing”.
The band will accompany the album release with a series of European residencies in March, with two nights in Copenhagen, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Barcelona.
The band has celebrated news of the release, sharing, “The vision for the L Y F has been with us since the start; way back in 2010 when we first sold the white on white bandana with the Heavy pop / Concrete Gold 12″ – We foresaw a community of like-minds that would gather around the flame of our music, and through whose direct support we could operate with freedom, autonomy & the truth; to play our own (infinite) game – alas we were young, foolish, and didn’t have the means or the infrastructure for the impulse to reach its full potential.”
However, 15 years in the industry has educated them in the way of the world, sharing, “Now 15 years later here we are – the initial version of the L Y F membership platform has been an experimental proof of concept – we have learnt a lot from it over the past year and behind the scenes we have been building Version 2.0.”
Of the new single, which was recorded in October last year, they’ve shared, “To love one’s fate is to look upon all this — without the fantasy of naïve optimism, nor with the cynicism of bitter despair — but with sober acceptance… Freedom is the choice that begins with surrender… So love your fate. Love this time, this ache, this burning world.”
Before the new release, Wu Lyf released two singles, the new 11-minute track, ‘Tib St. Tabernacle and, in 2024, the sprawling six-minute single ‘A New Life Is Coming’.
