Are Wolf Alice about to release new music?

Wolf Alice look to be teasing an imminent comeback and have broken their social media silence to tease fans about their return.

The Londoner’s last record came in 2017 when they shared Visions Of A Life, a project which took home the coveted Mercury Prize the following year and cemented their status as one of the finest contemporary acts around. Fans have been waiting patiently since for an update regarding album three, and now the band have shared new visuals on their official website along with the mysterious title, ‘The Last Man On Earth’. They have also urged fans to sign up to their mailing list to be the first to hear about updates regarding their next project.

You don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to work out either an album title or an upcoming single of this name is coming from the group — potentially even both. There’s been radio silence from the group for some time. However, last year saw leader Ellie Rowsell team up with Mura Masa for the punchy track ‘Teenage Headache Dreams’ and guitarist Joff Oddie released his debut solo album, To Mr Fahey last October.

Speaking to NME in 2020, their Dirty Hit label boss Jamie Oborne provided an update on Wolf Alice LP3, revealing: “It’s going well,” said Oborne of progress on album number three. “The guys are just writing. The demos are pretty well formed, we’ve settled on a producer and they’ll be starting in about a month’s time. It’s going to be amazing. They’re an incredible band already but seem really inspired to make their best album.”

Twelve months later and it seems like the record is finally ready to be announced. After close to four-years since their last release, the latest instalment from Wolf Alice is set to be one of the most highly anticipated records of the year. Check out the cryptic posts, below.
