“Good vibes only”: Willie Nelson to release cannabis cookbook

Despite being in his ninth decade, the country star Willie Nelson shows no sign of slowing down just yet. Having recently released his 74th studio album, Bluegrass, Nelson has now turned his attention to cooking up something aside from music. Alongside his wife, Annie, Nelson is set to release a cookbook, made up of cannabis-based recipes.

Nelson has always been open about his appreciation for marijuana, going so far as to claim that smoking weed “saved [his] life”. In fact, the country icon owns his own cannabis business. After all, switching to weed allowed Nelson to quit smoking tobacco and drinking whisky heavily. Now, Nelson has concentrated his love for marijuana into a full-length cookbook.

Imaginatively entitled Willie & Annie Nelson’s Cannabis Cookbook, the 256-page book will contain a mixture of recipes and Nelson’s various musings on life. The cooking aspect of the book is mainly attributed to Annie Nelson, while Willie focuses more on the storytelling aspect of the book.

The official description of the book claims that it’s “cooking with good vibes only”, adding that the recipes will be “drawn from their favourite meals on nationwide tours, at the ranch, at home, and in their favourite cities along the way, these recipes have stories to tell – and what better way to enjoy a good meal than with a high-flying tale and a relaxing buzz?”

Within the book, Nelson shares a wide variety of recipes, going from buffalo wings to chocolate cake and virtually every in-between. In addition, it will also boast a section on the creation of cannabis butter, simple syrup and oil, among other things that can elevate weed-based recipes.

This is not Willie Nelson’s first flirt with publishing, as he has previously released two memoirs: Wille: An Autobiography and The Facts Of Life And Other Dirty Jokes. This new cookbook is likely to feature a similar storytelling style as those previous releases, just with the extra addition of cannabis recipes.

Willie & Annie Nelson’s Cannabis Cookbook is set to be released in-full on November 12th through Gallery Books. The release will provide a nice book-end to a busy year for Nelson, coming only months after completing an extensive summer tour alongside Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp and Southern Avenue.
