White House removes ICE video after Sabrina Carpenter deems it “evil and disgusting”

The White House has deleted the social media video of ICE agents that was soundtracked by the Sabrina Carpenter song ‘Juno’ after the star hit out at the decision.

Earlier this week, the official White House accounts posted a short montage clip of masked ICE agents carrying out arrests to the tune of Carpenter’s hit song ‘Juno’ from her 2024 album, Short n’ Sweet.

The clip included audio of the pop star repeatedly singing “Have you ever tried this one?” while people are arrested.

The video did not go down well with the singer-songwriter. In response, Carpenter vehemently criticised the use of her song, writing on X that the video is “evil and disgusting”.

She added, “Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.”

Following Carpenter’s act of resistance, White House press secretary Abigail Jackson issued a statement. She said: “Here’s a Short n’ Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: We won’t apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country.”

She went on, as per USA Today, “Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?” in an echo of one of her other songs, ‘Manchild’.

Despite this, on December 5th, the clip was removed from social media channels. The White House has not addressed the latest move.

The entanglement of musicians and the Trump administration has become a constant that defines our modern era. Trump has often come under fire from artists angry about his usage of their song.

During his various campaigns, names like Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé, The White Stripes, and the estates of late artists such as Leonard Cohen and Prince are some of the many examples that have spoken out against their art being used to uphold the decisions of his administration.

Fellow pop star Olivia Rodrigo experienced the same issue as Carpenter when her song, ‘All-American Bitch’, was used in a promotion video for self-deportations.
